Filmmaker, Photographer, Editor
My name is Behzad Azadi an independent filmmaker coming from a Kurdish background in Iranian Kurdistan. I have BA in Cinema from Tehran University of Art and a master in TV production programs. My short films have won a dozen Iranian and International awards around the world, namely the best Jury Prize from Busan International Film Festival for “Temporary”. The turning point in Behzad’s career formed with his short fiction “Koshtargah: Slaughterhouse” by attending the Cinefondation in 2015. He is now developing Koshtargah as a personal attachment of his into a feature narrative under the working title “Storks” while attending the Cannes Residency in 2021.
Since 2021 I have been working on several film projects, including feature and short fiction films as well as documentaries. For more information about my new projects, please click on the link below.
Ever since I can remember, I have been taking photos with analogue and then digital cameras to help me forget all the negative energies around me. Taking photos means still being alive and continuing to breathe on the earth. This is the reason to share my photographic journey.
As an independent filmmaker, I’m always happy to receive feedback from viewers from all over the world. It helps me to grow.
